Hive pocket is the very same wonderful game we all love, but in a compact version. With all its pieces in a portable small cloth bag, this game can provide fun just about anywhere! This edition includes two bonus pieces, "The Mosquito" and "Ladybug," expansions to the game which provide additional hours of fun! The object: To surround your opponent's queen bee while trying to block your opponents from doing the same. Each player has 13 tiles; representing different insects. Each insect has a unique way of moving (as in chess) and resembles the movement of the insect depicted on the tile. Game with simple rules yet challenging in depth. Hive Pocket Review

I collect games of high quality, and Hive is perhaps the highest. The tiles are made of thick bakelite, absolutely gorgeous and a pleasure to handle. There seven basic pieces:
Grasshopper (3) - jumps in a straight line over any number of pieces.
Ant (3) - slides anywhere legal.
Beetle (2) - crawls 1 in any direction, including atop the hive.
Spider (2) - slides 3 spaces without backtracking.
Ladybug (1) - moves 2 atop the hive, then 1 down.
Queen bee (1) - slides 1 in any direction.
Mosquito (1) - copies the movement of any single pieces it touches.

On the first turn, players place one of their piece adjacent to each other, and this forms the Hive. No move may be made which separates the Hive. On each turn, a player may do one of the following:
1. Place a piece so that it doesn't touch an enemy piece.
2. Move a friendly piece.

To win, surround the opponent's queen bee. Quite a delightful game. This set is identical to the Hive Carbon set, except that the pieces are smaller. Each piece is roughly the size of 5 stacked US quarters. The game comes with a nice carrying bag. One draw back -- the rules are now a larger fold-out sheet which works okay if the game is kept in the original plastic case, but not so well if you want to carry a copy of the rules. A more portable version of the rules should have been provided.

The is also an excellent Hive app, in case you'd like to try playing the game.

I got to admit that this deck brings a lot of good cards in it and just the idea of getting ancient gear golem and the three gadgets got me more excited than anything and is a really good idea to form a powerful deck with it and that is exactly what I did but it really doesnt work by itself the strategy is really bad, I mean the trick of special summoning monsters is really good and the deck is good at protecting your monsters but you almost use your whole hand to just get a single powerful monster that can be easily destroyed by a magic card.

But it does brings really powerful mosnters to form OTHER decks.

The delivery came super quickly with all the cards coming in perfect condition. The only bad thing I would have to say was that all 5 were packaged together and they started to slid out of the case. They weren't damaged though.

As an avid MTG player I'm constantly on the lookout for card protectors that are durable, feel good in hand, and look good. These protectors excel at the criteria mentioned above and serve their purpose well. At the local game store I frequent, I usually get complimented on how good they look. In my opinion they work best with the recent Alara Reborn gold cards for some reason, or with a blue/black deck I use.
