Tin Dominoes, Dbl 6 Review

Alright folks ─ I'll say up front that I'm not just any kind of domino enthusiast...I've been playing for over 20 years, and have written a book on the topic entitled The Simple Guide on How to Play Dominoes- so I hope I'm not being too picky with my review of this set. I only want to provide a clear picture of what you're getting.

There are pros and cons so I'll do cons first, then pros.

Cons:
-The set had a strong smell to it. Like paint and plastic (the stuff it's made of) but it took a while for it to taper off.
- Some tiles had a weird residue on their surface; others had specs of paint, or barely visible smudges. You really get the sense that these are mass-produced, which all sets are, but this one looks and smells like it.

Pros:
- These dominoes are sturdy. I've slammed a few down during a game and it felt good. When I opened the tin and saw that these dominoes were thinner than what I am used to, I was disappointed, but it turned out that the thinner tiles were better for slamming ─ they're not as clunky as my "fancy" set.
-Speaking of thinner tiles, these dominoes are easier for my children to handle.
- I like the use of colors to identify different suits in the game. Again, it's a plus when teaching beginners to play.
- This set is certainly not pro quality, but is perfect for playing at home (game nights), or taking on vacation.

Overall I am satisfied with my purchase. I got it for family game nights and I wanted a set that the kids could have to themselves. This was exactly what I was looking for.
